      RV movement naturally places stress on its structural joints, seams, and flexible components, and over time this contributes to seal degradation—especially as the vehicle ages. As a RV travels, forces from cornering, road vibration, chassis flex and expansion and contraction from temperature changes cause the body to vibrate and flex. This continual movement strains sealants around roof seams, windows, slide-outs, vents, and exterior compartments. With aging, seal materials such as rubber gaskets, silicone, or lap sealants lose elasticity due to prolonged exposure to UV radiation, moisture, ozone, and temperature extremes. As they dry out, harden, crack, or shrink, they can no longer maintain a tight waterproof barrier. The combination of structural flex during travel and brittle, aged seals increases the likelihood of gaps forming, which allows water intrusion. If not maintained, this can lead to leaks, wood rot, mold, insulation damage, and costly structural repairs. Regular pressure testing for leaks can catch problems early and help mitigate expensive repairs.
